Induction furnace steelmaking — PSM Orechem
Who We Are

PSM Orechem is a specialist supplier of refractory and mineral solutions for induction furnace steelmaking — the newest chapter of a family that has made ramming mass for three generations. Behind the company stands more than 50 years of family experience in the refractory and minerals industry — the business was started by the founder's grandfather in 1972, and the founder's father has thirty years in the trade.

Consistent material is the difference between a predictable season and an expensive one. That consistency is what we exist to deliver.

That experience defines how we work. We know how silica behaves inside an actual induction furnace at full production load, and we select every material on a single test: how it performs in the lining you have to live with for the next campaign.

We supply with a focus on performance over volume. Every batch reflects one discipline: uniform quality, batch after batch. A predictable lining is what lets a plant manager plan the month — and that is the only outcome our material has to deliver.

A NOTE FROM
THE FOUNDER

I started PSM Orechem in 2024, carrying forward a trade my family has been in for three generations. My grandfather began making ramming mass in Rajasthan in 1972, and my father has spent thirty years in it — between them, more than fifty years. Running it is new to me, and in an industry where trust is earned slowly I think that is worth saying plainly.

What I bring is not years spent beside a furnace. It is a different kind of training — computer science at PES University in Bangalore, and management at Queen's University in the UK — put to work on unglamorous things: testing every batch, keeping records a customer can ask to see, and building software that shows how a lining actually performed. None of it replaces experience. It just makes experience easier to check.

That is where FURNEX came from. We give it to our customers free, and it works whoever supplied their ramming mass. If the numbers show our material underperformed, I would rather learn it from the data than from a phone call after the lining has failed.

The company carries my grandfather's initials, which I think of as a responsibility rather than a credential. I would rather be judged on how our material performs in your furnace than on anything written here.

HOW WE
WORK

In steelmaking, the value of any material is decided inside the furnace — not in a brochure. Three commitments shape how PSM Orechem operates, and none of them are flexible.

01

Consistency

A steel plant's planning depends on a predictable lining. Our raw material selection and quality control are built around that single requirement: every consignment we ship should behave the same way as the last one your operators worked with.

02

Understanding

Material performance is decided by your furnace practice, your operating temperature, and your steel grade. Because we have spent years in that environment, the grade and granulometry we propose is tuned to how your specific operation runs, not pulled off a standard datasheet.

03

Partnership

A ramming mass supplier is only useful if they pick up the phone when the lining gives trouble. We work to be the kind of supply partner steel plants come back to — staying close to operations long after the consignment leaves our gate.

When the material behaves the same way every campaign, the plant manager gets a furnace they can plan against. That is the whole job.

We work with steel plants across India that have moved past chasing the cheapest tonnage and want a supplier who answers the phone when the lining gives them trouble.

SOURCED FROM THE BEST
MINES IN INDIA

Reliable material starts at the source. We draw from two of India's richest mineral belts, so raw material quality is never left to chance.

01
Jharkhand
Eastern Mineral Belt

Home to some of India's finest high-purity quartzite deposits, Jharkhand anchors our supply chain. Our presence here gives us direct access to ore that meets the purity standard induction furnace lining demands — SiO₂ above 97.5%.

02
Rajasthan
Western Mineral Belt

Rajasthan's mineral-rich western belt gives us a complementary source of high-grade quartzite. It is also where our story began — our grandfather started the family's ramming mass business here in 1972, more than fifty years ago. Sourcing across two regions builds resilience against supply disruptions and ensures consistent quality across seasons.

The Name
Prem Swaroop Maheshwari

PSM Orechem carries the initials of Late Prem Swaroop Maheshwari — the patriarch who began this family's journey in ramming mass. His name is on every bag the company ships. It is both a tribute and a standard: the work has to be worthy of the name it carries.
